Marion Wells161 viewsMarion’s well field at Mary’s Pond is a work in progress, as three state-of-the-art, 12-inch well pipes with submersible pumps are replacing 26 red-capped pipes that measure 2½ inches in diameter. The network of smaller pipes has been operated by one pump located inside the station building. When completed, Marion expects that upgrades at the East and West well fields and at Mary’s Pond will enable the town to double its water production. See story on Water/Sewer Commissioners.

Marion Council on Aging161 viewsThe Marion Council on Aging held a St. Patrick's Day "Grab N Go" luncheon on Tuesday at the Cushing Community Center. Seniors were treated to a drive-thru pickup of a boxed lunch featuring potato leek soup, a corned beef Rueben sandwich with sauerkraut and Russian dressing served with kettle-cooked chips, a dill pickle, and pistachio cake for dessert. Arts in the Park161 viewsSeveral hundred people came out to enjoy the annual Arts in the Park fundraiser hosted by the Marion Art Center on July 10. Forty artists who had been invited by a MAC jury to participate featured their crafts and art objects. The jury ensures the quality of the items on display and also gives up-and-coming artisans a platform to showcase their work. Strolling along the paths, people found pottery, wearable art, custom crafted furniture, and a wide variety of jewelry. Photos by Marilou Newell

Tunnel Trouble161 viewsAn underground tunnel was recently discovered beside the Marion Town House running in the direction of the Elizabeth Taber Library. It was learned that the tunnel extends all the way to the front of Sippican Elementary School.
