We investigated marshes, bogs, vernal pools, and upland forest habitats and the plants and animals that call these areas home. The museum would like to thank the Marion Harbormaster's office for allowing us access to Bird Island to take a look at some of our more rare and endangered birds and their nesting habitat. Ned’s Point Lighthouse206 viewsTuesday afternoon offered a sneak preview of the reopening of Ned’s Point Lighthouse scheduled for Saturday, October 9, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cathy Hardy and Mike Lally, a Texas couple, happened to be in the right place at the right time to become the first visitors to the 183-year-old lighthouse that had been closed for the past two years and three months. No hymns were sung by members; the socially distant, mask-clad crowd enjoyed musical tunes by Jake Huntsinger, and Pastor Amy Lignitz-Harken gave the sermon. Marion Council on Aging205 viewsThe Marion Council on Aging held a St. Patrick's Day "Grab N Go" luncheon on Tuesday at the Cushing Community Center. Seniors were treated to a drive-thru pickup of a boxed lunch featuring potato leek soup, a corned beef Rueben sandwich with sauerkraut and Russian dressing served with kettle-cooked chips, a dill pickle, and pistachio cake for dessert.
