Mattapoisett Library131 viewsOn August 7, the Mattapoisett Library hosted the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance. Interns from the Wareham-based agency gave a hands-on talk to small children on local sea turtles. NECWA studies local marine life, collecting data for a variety of agencies. Marion Natural History Museum130 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum hosted a Nature Journaling program on October 3 with artist Tricia Cassidy. We enjoyed beautiful weather while hearing about a variety of strategies to allow everyone, even the most insecure participants, to be able to express the beauty of the natural environment on paper. We enjoyed several loosening-up exercises by playing with time constraints, not looking at the paper while drawing the subject, and framing our subject so as not to get too confused with the big picture.

Rochester Historical Commission130 viewsOn December 4, the Rochester Historical Commission presented a plaque to the Women’s Club noting the building's age. The plaque was attached to the building by George Owen and Tim Bates. These plaques are being donated by the commission to some of the town buildings used by the community with a hope of sharing town history. We will be extending this to residents who will be able to purchase a plaque for their historic home.
