Running with Hannah172 viewsHannah Strom ran from Island Wharf down Front Street to Silvershell Beach on Sunday morning, surrounded by her brother and friends. The accomplishment is a major step in the Marion native’s long road back from severe injuries sustained last January in a horrific crash while traveling in Florida with the Holy Cross rowing team. At the end of her run, her father surprised her with a puppy. The Tabor Academy graduate plans to go back to the Worcester-based college and rejoin the rowing program.

Melody Pacheco172 viewsOn March 17 family, friends, and co-workers came out in force to beep and wave at retiring Mattapoisett Town Hall employee Melody Pacheco, who ended her 35-year career after serving in a variety of capacities, including assistant to the town administrator, for over a decade. Mattapoisett Library172 viewsOn August 7, the Mattapoisett Library hosted the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance. Interns from the Wareham-based agency gave a hands-on talk to small children on local sea turtles. NECWA studies local marine life, collecting data for a variety of agencies. Some 60 kids from the Tri-Town area and beyond learned about turtle eating and nesting habits and made crafts depicting turtles. Photos by Marilou Newell

The event was held for the benefit of Helping Hands and Hooves, a program run by Julie Craig and Debbie Dyson that offers experiences, especially horseback riding, to people with cognitive challenges who have aged out of the many children's programs. St. Gabriel's Church Youth Group 172 viewsOn Saturday, January 25, St. Gabriel's Church Youth Group in Marion, hosted a Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds for our summer mission trip to North Carolina for hurricane relief efforts. Our team of 20 teens & 6 adults made all of the food and served the meal. We had a sold-out event! It was a fun evening of good food, great fellowship & awesome live music.
