Fish Ladder Repair146 viewsThe Mattapoisett Water Department, along with the assistance of the state’s Division of Marine Fisheries and local herring inspectors, were able to purchase the necessary lumber and rebuild the fish ladder at the Mattapoisett River Dam. There are 13 ladders that make up the weir, which allows easier access for the herring to head upstream. They are hoping to see the first few fish within the next couple of weeks. Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 145 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. VASE member Diana Martin organized the event, with the support of about 12 volunteers who assisted that morning in making sure the two races went off without a hitch. Photo by Felix Perez
