Santa’s Workshop234 viewsOn the snowy night of December 15, high school students and some rambunctious kids gathered for some fun at ‘Santa’s Workshop’ in the ORRHS Cafeteria. Senior Class President Gabriel Noble-Shriver and Vice President Rachel Demmer, along with Class of 2018 advisors Merrideth Wickman and Michael Nailor, hosted an evening of crafts, dancing, games, and a movie so parents could holiday shop. The funds raised will help defray the cost of Senior Class activities and expenses. Submitted photos by Erin Bednarczyk

Stayin’ Alive 234 viewsSurvival Week at ORR Junior High kicked off on the early morning of Sunday, June 17, as the 7th-graders boarded the busses for Western Massachusetts for a week of roughing it in the wild. And for this generation, that simply means no electronic devices and no Dunkin’ Donuts. Survival is now in its 46th year and still going strong. Some, like Survival leader Kevin “KT the Kilt Man” Thompson, have attended Survival since they were 7th-graders 30 years ago. Photos by Jean Perry

Marion Natural History Museum234 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's Coastal Explorations summer nature program had a wonderful time last week exploring a diverse selection of natural areas. We investigated marshes, bogs, vernal pools, and upland forest habitats and the plants and animals that call these areas home. The museum would like to thank the Marion Harbormaster's office for allowing us access to Bird Island to take a look at some of our more rare and endangered birds and their nesting habitat. Mattapoisett Free Library Birthday233 views“Say Triskaidekaphobia!” the Cat in the Hat told the children, posing for a photo at the Mattapoisett Free Library on Saturday, March 22. What the heck is that, the children asked the Cat in the Hat. “Google it!” he told the children laughing at his silliness. The library knows how to throw a party, celebrating five years since the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library funded the expansion of the library. “They even bought a cake,” said Children’s Services Librarian Sandra Burke.
