Charlotte Forker171 viewsTabor Academy sophomore Charlotte Forker has joined the Students of The Year campaign through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will campaign this winter to raise money in honor of her mother Jen, a school nurse at Tabor who fought a long battle with leukemia before passing away in October of 2018. Jen, a 15-year-old student from Marion, has set a goal of $20,000 that she will work to raise over a seven-week period that begins on January 29. See story. Library Treasures170 viewsWord spread of the Antiques Roadshow-style fundraiser at the Mattapoisett Library on March 29, attracting scores of South Coasters clutching their treasures, antiques, and heirlooms for appraisal and admiration, hoping Francis McNamee of the Marion Antique Shop might discover worth in their belongings beyond their sentimental value. Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 170 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Antique Car Show170 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports.
