Stayin’ Alive 245 viewsSurvival Week at ORR Junior High kicked off on the early morning of Sunday, June 17, as the 7th-graders boarded the busses for Western Massachusetts for a week of roughing it in the wild. And for this generation, that simply means no electronic devices and no Dunkin’ Donuts. Survival is now in its 46th year and still going strong. Transported by the Rochester Fire Department on a journey that began at Fire Station No. 3 at 200 Ryder Road and accompanied by Santa’s helpers riding along in trucks, Mr. and Mrs. Claus made their way down many Rochester roads, spending hours to visit hundreds of children waiting at the end of their driveways and on street corners. Spot245 viewsKevin Garell from Boston Dynamics brought a robot named "Spot" for a lively demonstration at Rochester Memorial School. With assistance from his son Gavin, Mr. Garell showed off some of Spot's "training" and capabilities. The demonstration was the culmination of a series of projects during which Grade 6 students took on a challenge from NASA to design robotic devices with specific functions.
