Take a Hike!210 views In our first installment of “Take a Hike!” we visited Church’s Field in Rochester off Mattapoisett Road. This Rochester Land trust property is easily accessible, with off-road parking and a wide, mulched trail – and, despite the persistent occupation of winter, there is beauty to be found in every season in Tri-Town. The trail loops through a Holly tree grove, passing mossy glacial outcroppings of rocks, and leads to a river, where the historical ruins of the Church family saw mill wait to be rediscovered.

Mattapoisett Free Library Birthday210 views“Say Triskaidekaphobia!” the Cat in the Hat told the children, posing for a photo at the Mattapoisett Free Library on Saturday, March 22. What the heck is that, the children asked the Cat in the Hat. “Google it!” he told the children laughing at his silliness. The library knows how to throw a party, celebrating five years since the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library funded the expansion of the library. “They even bought a cake,” said Children’s Services Librarian Sandra Burke. Ned’s Point Easter210 viewsThe sky was blue above the greening grass on that sunny spring Mattapoisett morning by the sea. On April 12, families gathered at Ned’s Point to celebrate Easter early with a traditional Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. The Easter Bunny hopped over for a visit, giving children hugs and high-fives as parents scurried to take photos and comfort the smaller ones who were a little reluctant to approach.
