Stayin’ Alive 217 viewsSurvival Week at ORR Junior High kicked off on the early morning of Sunday, June 17, as the 7th-graders boarded the busses for Western Massachusetts for a week of roughing it in the wild. And for this generation, that simply means no electronic devices and no Dunkin’ Donuts. Survival is now in its 46th year and still going strong. Some, like Survival leader Kevin “KT the Kilt Man” Thompson, have attended Survival since they were 7th-graders 30 years ago. Photos by Jean Perry

Osprey Rescue217 viewsThe Osprey who was impaled by fishing hooks and left dangling from a power line has been released. Several weeks ago, an adult Osprey was found dangling from a power line in Mattapoisett. He was 20 feet up and had one end of a fishing lure through his foot and the other end lodged deep into his left pectoral muscle. The entanglement caused him to become stuck upside down on the line and he was left struggling to free himself. After a significant rescue effort, he was brought to our hospital for treatment.
