Kids Equipment Fun Day266 viewsSaturday, May 7, was the date for the annual Kids Equipment Fun Day at Washburn Park in Marion, sponsored by Marion Recreation. The kids climbed aboard ambulances, fire trucks, police cruisers, and even the harbormaster’s boat. SouthCoast Working Dog Club266 viewsThe SouthCoast Working Dog Club held a three-day Schutzhund trial at the Rochester Country Fairgrounds on May 27-29. The event is a competition in training, tracking, obedience, and protection for working breeds of dogs. Old Rochester Regional High Graduation 266 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional High Graduation ceremony on June 4 included speeches from Superintendent Doug White, Principal Michael Devoll, Class President Bailey Sweet, and Valedictorian Paige Watterson. Marion Natural History Museum266 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group learned about the science of flight, including balance, weight, and reduction of drag with Dr. William Dills. We had many happy successful lift offs and attained some very impressive heights, thanks to the rocket scientists present. The Museum wishes to thank Dr. Dills and the volunteers who helped to make this another successful program, the final program of the school calendar year.

Marion Village 5K266 viewsThe number of participants in this year’s Marion Village 5K might have been down slightly according to race organizers, but the sentiment of fun and competition certainly was not on Saturday, June 25. Taking first place for men was Andrew Sukeforth of Middleboro with a time of 15:43, and Meg Hughes of Rochester won first place in the women’s division with a time of 19:50.
