Kids Ocean Mile Fun Run183 viewsDrew Weaver, #102, aged 12 of Mattapoisett and Matt Castro, #101, age 12 of Westport, were guaranteed winners September 13 at the Kids Ocean Mile Fun Run put on by the Mattapoisett YMCA. The only ones who signed up to compete, Castro took first place and Weaver took second in a close race. The retired bog acreage is slowly returning to meadows and woodlands. But for now cranberries continue to grow giving the do-it-yourself harvester a chance to enjoy nature’s bounty. Breakfast with Santa183 viewsMarion’s Police Brotherhood held its 3rd annual toy drive and pancake breakfast with Santa at Sippican School on December 6. Families were asked to bring new unwrapped toys, and in return they were given a delicious pancake breakfast and a photo with Santa. Rockets183 viewsThis past Wednesday and Thursday the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool groups constructed their own rockets. During lift off some went incredible distances, one ending up on a roof and at least one in a tree. The kids and the parents all had a great time. The Museum wishes to thank Mike and Alex Cronin of "Design Principles" for volunteering to help us construct and lift off the rockets, and all the many parents who stuck around to help with the construction and clean up afterward.

Annual Marion SpringFest183 viewsMay 9 was the day of the Annual Marion SpringFest sponsored by the Sippican Lands Trust and the Tree and Parks Committee! There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall.
