Antique Car Show170 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. Brad Barrows Ride170 viewsThe annual Brad Barrows Ride took place on Saturday, September 19, with around 60 to 70 participants riding on roughly 40 motorcycles. The fundraiser proceeds go to fund local youth sports, a cause that was dear to the late Barrows’ heart. Barrows was the owner of the bad “Brad’s” in Mattapoisett until his death in 2007. Marion Art Center170 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust teamed up with the Marion Art Center for a non-juried exhibition called “Images: Lands of the Sippican Lands Trust,” showcasing works of art inspired by the natural beauty of some of the conservation land protected by the SLT in Marion. MNHM Bird Island Trip170 viewsMany thanks to Mike, Isaac and Adam of the Marion Harbormaster’s office for the wonderful trip to Bird Island last week. Warm weather and very little wind added up to a perfect opportunity to explore the island during it’s shore bird “off season”. We looked for left over eggs, bones and nesting material. We also had an opportunity to visit the light house and take in views from the top, which included Cape Cod and the canal railroad bridge. Thank you for the great trip! Salty’s Silvery Moon Soiree170 viewsOn October 25, families gathered around the fire with Salty the Seahorse to enjoy some storytelling and the general splendor of nighttime in Dunseith Gardens. Salty’s Silvery Moon Soiree is a fall tradition sponsored by the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Guests enjoy s’mores and cider, music, and stories told by Toby Gills. Human Geometry170 viewsAudiences enjoyed the first of two fall drama productions at Tabor Academy last week. Drama teacher Mark Howland wrote and directed “Human Geometry,” which focused on how mathematical concepts can be used to understand human relationships. Audiences can look forward to another fall production, “Bang Bang You’re Dead,” opening Thursday, November 12, at 7:30 pm at the Will Parker Black Box Theatre.
