Library Henna198 viewsThe Elizabeth Taber Library hosted a henna tattoo program for teens, with each guest receiving their own henna creation by professional henna artist Heather Cault-Nulton. The art of henna dates back thousands of years and has recently grown in popularity. As part of a new initiative to draw teens into the library, the afternoon henna event was held on March 1 and attracted 13 area teens to experience the beauty of henna. Photos by Colin Veitch

Twelfth Night198 viewsThe talented students at Rochester Memorial School presented their annual tribute to the Bard on Friday, April 29 as they performed Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” RMS teacher Danni Kleiman has been adapting the scripts and directing the RMS Shakespeare plays for 27 years now. Kleiman explained the selection process for the annual Shakespearian play, saying, “I look at the talent that I have from the previous year,” says Kleiman. “I also look at the talent in the 5th grade and pick the play accordingly.” Kle

“Q” and “U” 198 viewsDeborah Bacciocchi’s kindergarten class at RMS celebrated a wedding of “Q” and “U” on May 16. The bride (a wooden letter "Q") wore a gown sewn with pieces from Bacchiocchi’s wedding gown and the groom wore mixed media/Sharpie formalwear. The gift registry yielded essentials like quarters, quilts, queens, and quartz, all elaborately wrapped by the kids. The reception followed with music, dancing, and cake. Photos by Erin Bednarczyk

MemorialHorse 7705198 viewsThe Mattapoisett Memorial Day parade on Monday will feature its first-ever riderless horse known as a “caparisoned horse,” a historic tradition that honors warriors and highly esteemed soldiers and individuals during a funeral procession. Led by her owner, Cheryl Randall Mach, ‘Honey’ will be formally dressed with two boots belonging to Mach’s grandfather, a WWI cavalry veteran, mounted in the stirrups facing backwards along with a silver cavalry sword.
