Former members of the Mattapoisett Fire Department along with several others from Fairhaven, Rochester, and Marion and current members of the department enjoyed the splendid fall afternoon while reliving past events in careers that spanned decades. On hand to greet the men and women as they arrived was retired Chief Ron Scott, who spent 42 years on the Mattapoisett Fire Department.

Marion Natural History Museum200 viewsOn Wednesday, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group brought in their collections of rocks and minerals, coins, coral, and even Star Wars figures. We spoke about the history of collecting nature-related artifacts worldwide, beginning with "cabinets of curiosities" owned by individuals through modern day museums, and how studying these specimens helps us gain historic perspective. The group explored the museum's collections of minerals, shells, bird eggs and nests, among many other items.
