Led by Tai Chi Practitioner Colman Fink, 15 locals moved gracefully together with conscious breath in the downstairs of the Mattapoisett Free Library – thanks to the rain that dampened the plan to meet at Ned’s Point for a second year in a row. 100th Birthday202 viewsRalph Winfield Walker is celebrating a milestone 100th birthday on May 7. Born in 1914, Walker moved to Rochester in 1946 and served on the Finance Committee before serving as selectman for several terms. Walker is credited as the selectman that brought street signs to the roads of Rochester. As the oldest person in Town, Walker holds the Boston Post cane, a longstanding tradition in New England towns. Family and friends honored Walker on May 5 at the Island Terrace Nursing Home where he now resides.

The landscape is bathed in golden sunlight that makes the bogs appear to glow from the inside out. The Buzzards Bay Coalition oversees the 50 acres of retired cranberry bogs that abounds with wildlife of the amphibious kind.
