Coastal Sweep251 viewsLed by Marion resident Peter McDonald, environmentally-minded locals and Tabor students descended upon Marion’s Silvershell Beach and Planting Island, Mattapoisett Town Beach and Wareham’s Onset Beach to pick up trash and debris on the morning of September 17, 2011. The residents cleaned the beaches in solidarity with 400,000 individuals in 120 countries, all who participated in a global beach cleanup orchestrated by the Ocean Conservancy. Veteran’s Day 251 viewsOn November 12, members of the Mattapoisett community gathered together at Old Hammondtown Elementary School for their annual Veteran’s Day ceremony. Commander Michael Lamoureux served as emcee of the event while State Representative William Straus, Selectman Paul Silva, Veterans’ Agent Barry Denham and U.S. Navy Lieutenant Scott Burrill addressed the audience.
