Freezin' for a Reason 2014194 viewsParticipants in the 2014 Polar Plunge on January 1 were encouraged to wear costumes for the event, which raised thousands of dollars for the BAM Foundation. BAM is an organization that offers financial assistance to families battling cancer to help offset the unexpected costs of cancer treatment. Hundreds of people turned out for the event, with over a hundred participants who plunged into 34 degree waters, just a few degrees warmer than the 28 degree air temperature that morning. Students Teacher Basketball194 views Students and teachers did about as much playing around as they did playing basketball during the students versus teachers co-ed basketball game at Old Rochester Regional High the evening of March 7. The teams were neck and neck throughout the evening – students in white and teachers in black – and neither team seemed to have an advantage over the other at any point during the game. FORM Instrumental Concert194 viewsWith nearly 1,000 people under one roof, ORR’s FORM Instrumental Concert ‘rocked’ the house. Middle-school students from Rochester, Marion and Mattapoisett along with junior and senior high school students from ORR showed their audience just why music in public schools is important. The vocal FORM concert is scheduled for March 13, 2014 at ORR High School. Photo by Marilou Newell

FORM Concert 194 viewsThe tri-town FORM concert brought together students whose combined musicality entertained a full house. The performers sang song style selections from spiritual to jazz and the crowd pleaser “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Rochester Memorial School. Combining the voices of nearly 300 students the finale was a soulful treatment of “Wade In The Water”. Funds raised through FORM concerts support scholarships awarded each year to graduating seniors who have completed at least two full years in a school music program.
