Not a free pew was seen and all smiled. The chapel was built in 1889 and has been maintained by locals who care deeply for its continued standing and operation. Veteran’s Day 215 viewsOn November 12, members of the Mattapoisett community gathered together at Old Hammondtown Elementary School for their annual Veteran’s Day ceremony. Commander Michael Lamoureux served as emcee of the event while State Representative William Straus, Selectman Paul Silva, Veterans’ Agent Barry Denham and U.S. Navy Lieutenant Scott Burrill addressed the audience. Annual Christmas Fair215 views The Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Mattapoisett held its annual Christmas fair on Saturday, November 30. The sale featured an array of hand-made artisan goods from custom Christmas tree ornaments to fine baked goods. The fair also offered a big lunch menu for those who needed to take a break from holiday gift shopping. Check out these photos of some of the items that were for sale this weekend. Pinewood Derby215 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month.
