The two separate races were run simultaneously, beginning and ending at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School on Saturday February 1. On Friday, March 14, the COA hosted an Irish luncheon, complete with, of course, corned beef and cabbage to mark the occasion. Irish or not, most donned their St. Paddy’s green and broke bread together with Selectman Naida Parker, who assisted in serving up lunch, along with COA Director Sharon Lally. Rochester Lions Club200 viewsThe school gave a “giant thank you” to the Rochester Lions Club for the donation of a brand new vision screener to replace the one the Lions Club donated to the school 44 years ago (below, right). School Nurse Michelle Humphrey showed her gratitude by asking students at Old Colony to create a small plaque thanking the Lions Club to be affixed to the side of the vision screener. Egg Drop200 viewsOn Friday, April 11th, many enthusiastic Cub Scouts from Pack 30 – Rochester took part in an “Egg Drop” activity. Using recyclable materials from their recycle bins at home, the scouts constructed an egg device to protect a raw egg from a drop of 60 feet. The boys were very creative and quite successful. For this Pack 30 was assisted by Donzel of Barnes Tree Service. In keeping with an “Earth Day” theme for April the scouts will also be picking up garbage around town to help keep Rochester beautiful.
