Holiday Party at Shipyard Park304 viewsThe community turned out for a wonderful late afternoon of lights, music, food and fun at the annual Holiday Party at Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett hosted by the Lions Club. The Lions were collecting non-perishable food and unwrapped new toys to distribute to those in need during the holiday. In return those in attendance were treated to great food, drinks and crafts for the little ones. Photos by Felix Perez and Marilou Newell

Noon Year’s Eve304 viewsThe year 2014 arrived a little early on Tuesday afternoon for the guests at the Senior Center’s Annual New Year’s Eve party. It was a “Noon Year’s Eve” party of sorts, with more than enough shiny hats and tiaras, colorful noisemakers, bright balloons, and champagne to go around. Photo by Jean Perry

ORR Pep Rally304 viewsPrincipal Michael Devoll gave Old Rochester Regional High School students a “shot in the arm” of school spirit on Friday January 31 – rather overdue for a school with a varsity basketball team currently in first place, a number of losing streaks in sports that have finally come to an end, and an undefeated debate team, among other reasons for students to be proud. Frosty Runner Road Race304 viewsRunners who participated in the third annual Frosty Runner Road Race enjoyed spring-like weather, perfect for a 10 mile or 3 mile run through the neighborhoods of Rochester. The two separate races were run simultaneously, beginning and ending at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School on Saturday February 1. The race was rescheduled from January 25, when the weather was a little too frosty for the event. Photo by Jean Perry

Oxfam Fundraising Banquet304 viewsAt the Old Rochester Regional Junior High School on February 13, guests of the Oxfam fundraising banquet got a taste of world hunger when they symbolically experienced the inequitable distribution of wealth and resources during a dinner of either just rice, rice or beans, or a full meal of rice, beans, and baked fish, determined at random by which ticket guests received at the door.
