Spanish Trip264 viewsSpanish students from Old Rochester Regional High School recently enjoyed a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston courtesy of grants from the Marion and Rochester Cultural Councils. Students studied the works of Francisco Goya, one of the most important Spanish artists of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. They were then able to visit an exhibition of his work at the MFA.

Rochester Movie Set264 viewsOnce The Wanderer first reported the presence of a Hollywood film crew in Rochester on April 2 word quickly spread, and so did the rumors that stars of the film production “Joy” were in town for the day. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road. Eagle Scout Project264 viewsAdam Perkins of Mattapoisett has completed his Eagle Scout project, kayak racks for Shipyard Park. From September 2014 through April 2015 he managed all aspects of the project from securing funding, acquiring materials, to building the racks. On May 5 the racks where transported from his home on Abbey Lane to Shipyard Park by the Highway Department. On hand to receive the gift on behalf of the town was Harbormaster Jill Simmons.

Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association264 viewsThe Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association hosted a chowder competition on September 13 on the Mattapoisett Knights of Columbus grounds. Between 300 and 400 guests came to sample the chowder of 16 different teams, split into two categories: public safety and professional.
