Veteran’s Day 201 viewsOn November 12, members of the Mattapoisett community gathered together at Old Hammondtown Elementary School for their annual Veteran’s Day ceremony. Commander Michael Lamoureux served as emcee of the event while State Representative William Straus, Selectman Paul Silva, Veterans’ Agent Barry Denham and U.S. Navy Lieutenant Scott Burrill addressed the audience. Pinewood Derby201 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. Other awards included, Best Theme to Connor Lavoie for his Batmobile, Best Design to David Strom for Kool Kone and Best Paint Job to Max Richins for Bulldog. Photos by Felix Perez

Annual Turkey Dinner201 viewsLast Saturday over one hundred seniors enjoyed the annual turkey dinner with all the trimmings sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. Several of our volunteers also delivered meals to those seniors that could not attend. Music and laughter filled Raynard Hall at the Congregational Church. The event was chaired by Lions Joe and Janet Rego and the Boy Scouts did outstanding work serving the seniors and helping with clean up.

Mattapoisett Lions Club201 viewsDespite cool raining weather members of the Mattapoisett Lions Club joined together on Saturday April 20th to repair the shade shed at Ned’s Point, including a new roof. The following Saturday the members repaired the shade shed at the town beach. Both shade shed were originally built by the members of the Lions Club.
