Frosty Runner Road Race307 viewsRunners who participated in the third annual Frosty Runner Road Race enjoyed spring-like weather, perfect for a 10 mile or 3 mile run through the neighborhoods of Rochester. The two separate races were run simultaneously, beginning and ending at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School on Saturday February 1. Olde Field Farm307 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Rochester Land hosted a joint walk at the Olde Field Farm property on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23. Hikers walked through the pinewood trails and through the frozen wetlands surrounding the Mattapoisett River, looking for animal tracks in the snow and admiring the natural beauty Rochester has to offer. Mattapoisett Free Library Birthday307 views“Say Triskaidekaphobia!” the Cat in the Hat told the children, posing for a photo at the Mattapoisett Free Library on Saturday, March 22. What the heck is that, the children asked the Cat in the Hat. “Google it!” he told the children laughing at his silliness. The library knows how to throw a party, celebrating five years since the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library funded the expansion of the library. “They even bought a cake,” said Children’s Services Librarian Sandra Burke. Egg Drop307 viewsOn Friday, April 11th, many enthusiastic Cub Scouts from Pack 30 – Rochester took part in an “Egg Drop” activity. Using recyclable materials from their recycle bins at home, the scouts constructed an egg device to protect a raw egg from a drop of 60 feet. The boys were very creative and quite successful. For this Pack 30 was assisted by Donzel of Barnes Tree Service. In keeping with an “Earth Day” theme for April the scouts will also be picking up garbage around town to help keep Rochester beautiful.
