Salty's Hat207 viewsEarly this past Friday, December 1, as folks were rushing to work and children settling into school, an annual tradition transpired in Mattapoisett at the corner of Route 6 and North Street. With the placement of the Santa hat upon the head of our beloved Salty the Seahorse, the holiday season officially began. As they do every year, the folks at Brownell Systems assisted the Mattapoisett Land Trust in the placement of the hat via a tall crane. Photo by Paul Lopes

Marion Natural History Museum207 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after school group had a wonderful time exploring what works (and what doesn't) when constructing a wooden sailboat. The students constructed their own boat, either a single hull or catamaran, and added a sail and keel. After decorating their vessels, students raced the boats down two long rain gutters filled with water. Many thanks to engineer Mark Whalen for yet another terrific program!
