Rochester Fire207 viewsJust before 11:00 am on April 2, the Rochester Fire Department was called out to a structure fire on Vaughan Hill Road in Rochester, with initial responders calling for assistance from the Mattapoisett and Marion Fire Departments and a tanker from Rochester. The house was located on a farm about 1,000 feet from the road down a long dirt driveway, which created a problem for supplying water to the scene.

Eagle Scout Project207 viewsAdam Perkins of Mattapoisett has completed his Eagle Scout project, kayak racks for Shipyard Park. From September 2014 through April 2015 he managed all aspects of the project from securing funding, acquiring materials, to building the racks. On May 5 the racks where transported from his home on Abbey Lane to Shipyard Park by the Highway Department. On hand to receive the gift on behalf of the town was Harbormaster Jill Simmons.

Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 207 viewsIt was a windy ride for the 120 participants of the 9th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 4. From Westport to Falmouth, cyclists rode either the 75-mile or 35-mile route to raise funds for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, bringing in nearly $90,000. Mass Mini Tractor Pullers 207 viewsThe Rochester Country Fairgrounds hosted a tractor pull of the Mass Mini Tractor Pullers Association on October 10. The tractors are hand-built by their owners, using naturally-aspirated auto engines that are 500-1,000 horsepower.
