It’s the holiday season in Rochester now that the tree is lit followed by the arrival of jolly old Saint Nick via fire engine on December 4 to usher in the holiday season. The Rochester Memorial School band and chorus treated revelers to a festive performance, while Christmas poster winner Tessa Winslow had the honor of flipping the switch to light the holiday tree. Salty's Hat220 viewsEarly this past Friday, December 1, as folks were rushing to work and children settling into school, an annual tradition transpired in Mattapoisett at the corner of Route 6 and North Street. With the placement of the Santa hat upon the head of our beloved Salty the Seahorse, the holiday season officially began. Marion Natural History Museum220 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after school group enjoyed learning about life in salt marshes with the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance (NECWA). We discovered that the diamondback terrapin can live 25-40 years, and that the warmest part of the terrapin's nest will result in females and the coolest part, males.
