Miss South Coast208 viewsJillian Zucco of Mattapoisett (2nd from left), competing as Miss South Coast, was chosen as the first runner up in the 77th annual Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant and received a $3,000 scholarship. Zucco was also the recipient of the Dr. Robert Harney Preliminary Swimsuit Award in the amount of a $250 scholarship and a $150 scholarship as the Miss Miracle Maker, which is awarded to the contestant who raises the most funds for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

National Night Out Against Crime208 viewsTuesday, August 2, was the annual National Night Out Against Crime on the school grounds of Old Rochester Regional. The Mattapoisett, Marion, and Rochester Police Departments were joined by the Tri-Town Fire and EMS Departments, Marion Harbormaster, and Marion Recreation. Rochester Country Fair208 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair rolled into town on Thursday, August 18, filled the air with the sweet smells of Italian sausage and fried fair food, mixed with the smoke of diesel engines, and created that magical scent we all relish until the fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 21. Tractor pulls, animal shows, kids’ games, music, and wrestling (including the match between The Aardvark and Buck Chuck) delighted us while it lasted in the bucolic setting of Rochester, Massachusetts. Turtle Care208 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove.
