Thank you to all the volunteers who made this such a happy and fun-filled event. Marion Art Center Members Show210 viewsMembers of the Marion Art Center showcased their work during the opening reception of the MAC Annual Winter Members Show on January 9. Members were allowed to submit up to three pieces, and MAC Executive Director Deborah Bokelkamp said members not only have artistic skill, but they possess the skill of self-expression. “The person doing it feels it,” said Bokelkamp. “It’s not just the act, it’s the expression.” The show runs until February 28. Spanish Trip210 viewsSpanish students from Old Rochester Regional High School recently enjoyed a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston courtesy of grants from the Marion and Rochester Cultural Councils. Students studied the works of Francisco Goya, one of the most important Spanish artists of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. They were then able to visit an exhibition of his work at the MFA.

Rochester Movie Set210 viewsOnce The Wanderer first reported the presence of a Hollywood film crew in Rochester on April 2 word quickly spread, and so did the rumors that stars of the film production “Joy” were in town for the day. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road.
