Principles of Engineering316 viewsORRHS teacher Tom Norris’ Principles of Engineering class tested on March 29 to see if the robotic balsa wood cranes students designed could lift at least two pounds. Six groups of 2-3 students designed their own cranes, motors, and pulley systems using only a set limited supply of materials. Miss Inspirational316 viewsThe Miss Inspirational program took to the ORR stage and stole the show on Friday, May 6, during a packed auditorium assembled to see 29 young women of all abilities showcase their talents and accomplishments. Miss South Coast, Jillian Zucco, coordinated the fundraising event as part of her progress towards the upcoming Miss Massachusetts pageant. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. Plumb Library316 viewsA new cupola complete with a copper covered roof and refurbished bronze and copper eagle weathervane now graces the roof of the Plumb Library in Rochester center. Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School carpentry shop students in partnership with Diversified Roofing Systems, New Bedford, owned by Richard Miranda, built the new cupola for the town. Local restaurants and cafés dole out servings of their specialty foods for ticket holders to the event hosted by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club.
