With the placement of the Santa hat upon the head of our beloved Salty the Seahorse, the holiday season officially began. Marion Natural History Museum229 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a chance to learn to identify certain local trees in winter by their bark. Students compared red cedar bark to red pine, took a close look at various lichens and mosses that use tree bark as a surface to grow on, and counted rings in a log supplied by Hartley Saw Mill in Rochester.
