Stone Horse Builder's Cup666 viewsIn an exciting finish to the 2008 Stone Horse Builder’s Cup Race sponsored by Edey and Duff of Mattapoisett, the top three Stone Horses were within two boat lengths with only a bow sprit, about 4 feet, separating the top two boats, WINDFALL and YOUNG AMERICA. WINDFALL, sailed by Tom Kenney of the New Bedford Yacht Club and Bob Jackson of Cohasset, took First Place, edging out Second Place finisher Bob Sachetti of Boston, who was single handing YOUNG AMERICA.

Wood, If I Could666 viewsThe ever-popular Woodsman Show remains a highlight of Rochester’s annual Country Fair and was held on Friday evening, August 22. Here a contestant displays his skills at the difficult and sometimes dangerous axe-throwing competition. Other events included log rolling, bow sawing, disc stacking, spring board chop, two-person cross cut, chainsaw cutting, and downward chop. Winter Wonderland666 viewsMattapoisett landmark “Salty the Seahorse” sits watching over the town’s Dunseith Gardens on the corner of Route 6 and North Street on a cold, winter day. The Mattapoisett Land Trust will be sponsoring a Kubb game on Sunday afternoon, January 18 at the site.
