Living History 283 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Photos by Jean

With the placement of the Santa hat upon the head of our beloved Salty the Seahorse, the holiday season officially began. Various volunteer organizations and groups dependent on volunteer participation set up tables and invited the public to learn how they could help. The pinewood derby is a tradition that was started back in 1963 in Manhattan Beach, California and persists to this day.
