Marion Holiday Stroll 326 viewsHere Comes Santa Claus! – Santa made his big entrance to the Marion Holiday Stroll on Sunday, December 8, from across Sippican Harbor on his ‘water sleigh’ to the crowd that awaited him at the Town Wharf. Grandparent's Day325 viewsIt was a perfect autumn day for the SouthCoast Senior Resource Alliance Grandparents’ Day at Hiller Farm in Rochester on September 19. Children and their grandparents had fun playing bean-bag toss, bocce, posing with the Three Stooges, and more. The face-painting and petting zoo areas were a complete hit! Most importantly, the free event provided information to seniors on health services available in the SouthCoast area. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley

Santa's Arrival325 viewsMarion children gave a rock star’s welcome to Santa Claus, who arrived at Marion’s Annual Holiday Stroll by boat on December 13. The pouring rain didn’t stop Santa from spreading candy and holiday cheer to the crowd of exciting children. Clydesdale horses waited patiently to take visitors on a stroll through the village, and the town Christmas tree was lit at Bicentennial Park. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley.

Barn Tour325 viewsOver 60 carloads of people enjoyed the second annual Rochester Land Trust Barn Tour on June 27, 2010. With eight barns on the route, enthusiasts got to explore this fascinating part of the New England landscape. Some, like the Hiller farm barn, are still in use, and others on the tour were well-kept relics of our agricultural past. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley

4th Fireworks325 viewsDespite funding setbacks, the Marion fireworks took place this year at Silver Shell Beach under perfectly clear skies. Revelers enjoyed the patriotic music of Phil Sanborn and the Marion Concert Band while brilliant colors illuminated the harbor. Unless the town can secure a permanent source of funding, next year’s fireworks may be in jeopardy. Photo by Felix Perez.
