Plumb Library in Rochester kicked off their summer reading program entitled “Dig Into Reading” last Friday evening at the Congressional Church, where “Mad Scientist” Laser Leigh presented a group of K-6 graders from the Tri-Town area with several scientific experiments and an informative-yet-fun lecture on the wide scientific world. Residents watched the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department’s Ken Ballinger demonstrate K-9 tactics, got a feel for SWAT, EMS, and Fire vehicles; and enjoyed pizza and ice cream. Coastal Explorations II 242 viewsMany thanks to Karen Moore Dourdeville for her excellent presentation to the Coastal Explorations II summer program regarding the sea turtles of Buzzards Bay. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago. Veteran's Day 2013242 viewsThe Tri-Town honored veterans on Monday with moving programs. In Marion, the parade included Cub Scout Pack 32, Master of Ceremonies Joe Napoli, and the Sippican School Band. In Mattpoisett, Daniel Mazzuca gave a speech that focused on what our country can do for veterans in need of jobs, housing, and mental health services.
