Taste of the Tri-Town227 views The fourth annual Taste of the Tri-Town was held on Friday, September 7, 2012, at the Mattapoisett YMCA. Almost 100 guests turned out to help support the Lighthouse Fund, an endowment maintained by the ORR Tri-Town Education Foundation, which offers grants to students and teachers for educational projects that extend beyond their normal curriculum. Big Trucks227 viewsDespite the soggy weather on Saturday, May 11th, close to 100 kids of all ages came to Marion Recreation’s Kid’s Equipment Day held at Town Field on Main Street. Kids were able to climb and explore a fire truck, ambulance, bucket truck, police cruiser, street sweeper and construction vehicles. All children received a free fire hat or construction hat. Many volunteers were on hand to assist the kids and to answer any questions.

Amy Hartley-Matteson of Mattapoisett and Katherine Hartley of Rochester (2:11:14) won the women’s division for the third consecutive time – the second time they’ve three-peated. Coastal Explorations II 227 viewsMany thanks to Karen Moore Dourdeville for her excellent presentation to the Coastal Explorations II summer program regarding the sea turtles of Buzzards Bay. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago.
