Flag Day Ceremony 319 viewsRochester Memorial School 4th Grade held an all school Flag Day ceremony on June 14th honoring and thanking community first responders. Commencing this energy filled event was the raising of the flag to the National Anthem followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Acknowledgements to a fantastic show of local and state police, fire fighters, EMT’s, veterans and serving military heroes was presented through 4th grade students and famous poems, songs and personal thank yous. Cottage Restored319 viewsA family has restored an old 1925 stone cottage on Snipatuit Pond in Rochester to its original state, and owner Andrea King gave a presentation on the restoration process to the Rochester Historical Society who got to see step by step how the King family, living in the U.S. Virgin Islands, brought the little cottage back to life to make it their second home. Lost Ladybug Project319 viewsGuided by Loree Griffin Burns, children headed out on May 30 from Plumb Library to search for ladybugs to photograph and document for the Lost Ladybug Project. In all, the kids found five ladybugs. The event was funded by a MOBY grant and organized by the RMS PTOs, the RLT, Kathy Gauvin at ORR, and the three town Cultural Councils.
