Marion Recreation Department Lifeguards 438 viewsOn July 18 the Marion Recreation Department Lifeguards conducted a training drill at Silvershell Beach. Each week the lifeguards conduct training drills throughout the summer season. This particular drill was done with the Marion Harbormaster's Department and the Marion Fire/EMS Department.

Fun with Pollination437 viewsAt the last Cranberry after-school program participants from the Natural History Museum learned about pollinators on the bog. The kids got a chance to see how difficult it is to jump in waders, a job requirement for most bog workers. Many thanks to Dawn Allen of the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Association for her wonderful programs - and free snacks! The next after-school program will be "Nature Crafts" - a holiday workshop and party at the museum on December 14th at 3:30.

Marion Natural History Museum436 viewsDuring our after-school netting program at the Harbormaster's beach, the students had a chance to study a variety of our seashore animals. The totals were: 278 silversides, 14 mummichogs, 1 pipefish, 15 glass shrimp, 10 moon jellies, 1 sea nettle and 3 sea robins. There were many other larger fish but we couldn't get close enough to identify them. We were lucky enough to have a warm sunny day to enjoy the activity, and the museum would like to thank the student helpers from both Tabor Academy and ORRHS.
