The kids had a lesson on using binoculars and had a chance to practice outside. Although it was getting dark, we saw a Junco, several sparrows, and took a close up look at squirrel nest. Massachusetts Fire Academy 11 viewsThe Massachusetts Fire Academy conducted a 48-hour class on Saturday involving Fire personnel from the region at Magnolia Cranberry located on Sherman Briggs’ bog accessible off Front Street. The class focused on operating the engine (pumper) in both rural areas and areas with fire hydrants. Seven students enrolled from Marion Fire Department were enrolled. According to Marion Fire Chief Brian Jackvony, the class was originally scheduled for completion in 2020 but was postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Halloween Parade11 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. First Congregational Church of Marion Summer Fair11 viewsThe First Congregational Church of Marion Summer Fair was held on July 27 with an effort to raise funds for the restoration of its clock tower. Main Street was closed to traffic so visitors could enjoy several booths full of goods for sale, along with sports equipment, while visiting the Penny Pinchers’ Exchange, a lobster roll or a burger or dog from the grill. Marion Natural History Museum11 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's Coastal Exploration group had a great time exploring freshwater and saltwater ecosystems this summer. We took a close look at tadpoles and salamanders undergoing metamorphosis, spotted turtles fighting with each other, a water snake, silversides and shrimp and much more. Many thanks to Marion Recreation Department for turning on the water at Washburn and to Adam Miller and Zack Ciesielski of the Marion Harbormaster's office for their help collecting plankton samples.
