Halloween Parade12 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. Pumpkin Palooza12 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

Marion Veteran's Day12 viewsMarion resident and Technical Sergeant of the Massachusetts National Guard Mandy Givens was the keynote speaker at the town's Veterans Day ceremony on November 11 at Old Landing. Marion Natural History Museum12 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group attempted to get to Bird Island on May 22 to visit the nesting tern population. Unfortunately, due to high winds and rough surf, we didn’t get all the way out there but enjoyed getting soaked on the ride out. We stopped briefly at Ram Island to try to get a little dried off before heading home. The kids had a blast checking out the beach and collecting shells. Elizabeth Taber Library 12 viewsKids and their grown-up minders were scattered across the lawn in front of the Elizabeth Taber Library on July 11 when Pine Meadows Farms arrived with a variety of small animals delighting all. From pygmy goats to recently shorn alpacas and more, children learned some basic facts about the animals, but better yet for the toddler brigade, was getting up close to the animals.
