The paintings evoke nature’s many moods through tonal interpretations. The exhibit is open until June 15. On June 7, Stone will give a gallery talk at 11:00 am. We learned about their life cycle, the plants these animals must have to reproduce and the plants they need to be able to survive their extremely long migration routes. We watched a video Maggie had taken of a monarch butterfly emerging from its chrysalis and expanding its wings to fly.

Marion Firefighters Association111 viewsBill Bacchiocchi, Andrew Pottle, Shawn Alden and Marion firefighter Eli Arne engage in a spirited game of horseshoes at Silvershell Beach, part of Sunday’s tournament held to benefit the Marion Firefighters Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Attendees enjoyed the competition, antique trucks, live music from the band US, a craft beer garden and barbecue. The event not only restored the six horseshoe pits at Silvershell but also raised funds to support the many programs that aid past & present

Massachusetts Fire Academy 111 viewsThe Massachusetts Fire Academy conducted a 48-hour class on Saturday involving Fire personnel from the region at Magnolia Cranberry located on Sherman Briggs’ bog accessible off Front Street. The class focused on operating the engine (pumper) in both rural areas and areas with fire hydrants. Seven students enrolled from Marion Fire Department were enrolled. According to Marion Fire Chief Brian Jackvony, the class was originally scheduled for completion in 2020 but was postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many thanks to the Youth Group for all their hard work preparing the evening’s Louisiana-style foods and for leading the games. One tradition well established the past half-dozen years was the sunflower in the outer harbor, where several vessels tied up to one another at the stern and aimed their bows outward toward the sea in 360-degree formation.
