Grandchildren, grandparents, couples and kids all had fun making their wreaths. An Advent wreath is a circle of greenery with four candles. Marion Natural History Museum147 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after-school group had a chance to take a closeup look at some of the amphibians and invertebrates that require these special habitats to survive. We found a leaf-rolling caddisfly larvae, several colorful chronomidge larvae, salamander and wood-frog eggs. All specimens made their way safely back to their specific pool, and the kids have learned to have a new respect for these “nurseries” of the forest. Marion Art Center 147 viewsOn June 23, the Marion Art Center held its annual Art in Bloom reception. The popular event pairs floral arrangements with paintings in what can to liken to a 3D visual art profusion. This year's art featured the abstract expressions of Pat Warwick, Alyn Carlson and Pat Coomey Thornton. Massachusetts Fire Academy 147 viewsThe Massachusetts Fire Academy conducted a 48-hour class on Saturday involving Fire personnel from the region at Magnolia Cranberry located on Sherman Briggs’ bog accessible off Front Street. The class focused on operating the engine (pumper) in both rural areas and areas with fire hydrants. Seven students enrolled from Marion Fire Department were enrolled. According to Marion Fire Chief Brian Jackvony, the class was originally scheduled for completion in 2020 but was postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marion Police Self Defense Class147 viewsOn November 6 and 8, women ages 15 and up learned basic, self-defense strategies from Marion Police Officer Captain Carl MacDermott III at the Music Hall. Awareness of one’s surroundings was a prime message, and participants practiced moves under assault. Klim’s style of rapidly applied, single-layer brushstrokes presents the viewer with a sense of fresh breezes guiding the artist’s hand.
