The annual fundraiser began at the Handy Tavern, the headquarters of the Sippican Woman's Club, which hosted the event. The tavern was built in 1812 and has been owned by the club for many decades. Club historian Jeanine Bruen shared that the club is celebrating its 100th year and for nearly that long has been taking care of this structure in the heart of Marion village. Marion Natural History Museum33 viewsOn February 14, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group had a great time dissecting owl pellets. The students located skulls, both rodent and avian, and other assorted bones. After identification and close inspection under microscopes, these were then mounted on project boards to bring home. Marion Natural History Museum33 viewsOn March 13, the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group enjoyed hearing about planets, stars, galaxies and the universe with amateur astronomer Peter Marshall. Peter specializes in studying and taking photos of these rarely seen objects from his home in Rochester, and the kids were happy to share their astronomical insights with the group.
