Attendees enjoyed the competition, antique trucks, live music from the band US, a craft beer garden and barbecue. The event not only restored the six horseshoe pits at Silvershell but also raised funds to support the many programs that aid past & present

Marion Natural History Museum 102 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Paul Gregory for sharing his collection of shells and fossils with students who wish to start their own. Along with perusing guidebooks to identify an item, we learned the importance of the history of the artifact, where and when it was collected and by whom. Natural history museums are wonderful resources for students, artists and scientists.

Marion Natural History Museum102 viewsOn February 14, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group had a great time dissecting owl pellets. The students located skulls, both rodent and avian, and other assorted bones. After identification and close inspection under microscopes, these were then mounted on project boards to bring home. The Marion Natural History museum wishes to thank Tabor Academy volunteers Camden Jeppsin, Eddy Yeon, Noah Divon, Ryan Francis and Sulaiman Al Harthy for their help with this project. On Monday, the town took part in “Pink Donuts for Alec Day” honoring the memory of Alec White by enjoying his favorite donut, pink frosted. Fire Department Open House102 viewsOn October 10 and 11, Marion and Mattapoisett Fire Departments held open houses featuring plenty of fun for children of all ages. The occasion was the National Fire Prevention Week.
Since 1922, the National Fire Protection Association has been helping local fire departments with educational materials related to fire safety.

Marion Veteran's Day101 viewsJames R. Holmes, the J.C. Wylie Chair of Maritime Strategy at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, spoke to Marion citizens gathered at Old Landing for Veterans Day observances on November 11. Also speaking were Select Board Chair Norm Hills, Town Administrator Jay McGrail, and the Reverend Eric E. Fialho, rector of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church. Supporting with their participation were Marion Cub Scouts and the Sippican Elementary School Band under the direction of Hannah Moore.
