Marion Fire40 viewsAn attic at 295 Delano Road caught fire on Monday, prompting response from Marion Fire/EMS and mutual aid from Wareham, Mattapoisett and Rochester fire departments. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further damage. Marion Firefighters Association39 viewsBill Bacchiocchi, Andrew Pottle, Shawn Alden and Marion firefighter Eli Arne engage in a spirited game of horseshoes at Silvershell Beach, part of Sunday’s tournament held to benefit the Marion Firefighters Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Attendees enjoyed the competition, antique trucks, live music from the band US, a craft beer garden and barbecue. The event not only restored the six horseshoe pits at Silvershell but also raised funds to support the many programs that aid past & present

The popular event pairs floral arrangements with paintings in what can to liken to a 3D visual art profusion. This year's art featured the abstract expressions of Pat Warwick, Alyn Carlson and Pat Coomey Thornton. Despite the sweltering temperatures, we managed to see the following: 2 Monarchs, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Spicebush Swallowtail, 7 Sachems, a Zabulon Skipper, a Viceroy, 3 Clouded Sulphurs, Orange Sulphur, Pearl Crescent and Cabbage White butterflies.
