Marion Village Stroll136 viewsCars lined several Marion streets as residents gathered for the town’s Christmas Stroll on December 12. Front Street and connecting village roads were partially closed for the event, as families enjoyed refreshments provided by area merchants at their doorsteps and along the roads. Clydesdale horses escorted Santa Claus and passengers, while the Sippican Elementary School Band played, Tabor Academy student singer Wesley Lai of Hong Kong sang, and a bike rider juggled bowling pins. In these unique times, these cubs had the most challenging year ever. They were diligent, reverent, and kind as they completed all of their achievements. Sippican Elementary Car Wash135 viewsSippican Elementary sixth graders turned Saturday's car wash into a fire engine wash, creating a waterfall of suds and having the kind of fun kids normally associate with what happens on the weekends before school is back in session. Organized by Volunteers at Sippican Elementary (VASE), the school's 501(c)(3) non-profit parent-teacher organization, the event held at the Marion school's bus loop off Main Street raised money for the students' mountain classroom trip, a three-day excursion planned for June 20

Marion 4th of July Parade134 viewsMarion Town Administrator Jay McGrail and Select Board members Norm Hills, John Waterman, and Randy Parker walked the Independence Day parade route on Monday morning along with veterans, marching bands, Boy and Girl Scout troops, youth baseball teams, decorated floats, fire engines, and a convoy of antique cars. Marion Natural History Museum134 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after-school group had a chance to take a closeup look at some of the amphibians and invertebrates that require these special habitats to survive. We found a leaf-rolling caddisfly larvae, several colorful chronomidge larvae, salamander and wood-frog eggs. All specimens made their way safely back to their specific pool, and the kids have learned to have a new respect for these “nurseries” of the forest.
