Marion Natural History Museum 185 viewsLast week, the Marion Natural History Museum welcomed Bethany Jakubson of Amazing Animal Ambassadors. Bethany brought in some of her most adorable mammals, including a Fennec Fox (native to Africa), a Tenrec (native to Madagascar), a Hedgehog named Peter Quill, a Chinchilla and a skunk. Nolan Fest184 viewsThe first-ever Nolan Fest was held on July 11 at Silvershell Beach in Marion to honor the late Nolan Gibbons, who tragically passed away on August 18, 2020. The festival featured live music and words presented by area and national contributors, along with video tributes and a fire show. Library Zoo184 viewsLauren Paine of Pine Meadows Farm located in Mattapoisett, along with her father, Jeff, brought members of their “herd” to the Elizabeth Taber Library in Marion on July 8. Well over 100 people of all ages enjoyed the opportunity to visit with and learn about exotic animals. The younger members of the crowd listened intently as they heard about the eating habits and habitats of bearded dragons, Nigerian goats, lop-eared rabbits, tortoises, and alpacas, for which the farm is known.
