Arts in the Park171 viewsSeveral hundred people came out to enjoy the annual Arts in the Park fundraiser hosted by the Marion Art Center on July 10. Forty artists who had been invited by a MAC jury to participate featured their crafts and art objects. The jury ensures the quality of the items on display and also gives up-and-coming artisans a platform to showcase their work. Strolling along the paths, people found pottery, wearable art, custom crafted furniture, and a wide variety of jewelry. Photos by Marilou Newell

The technique of layering oils to create a realistic tactile surface gives the curious bovine a more realistic appearance. This engaging piece and many more are featured in the Marion Art Center’s 2022 Winter Members Show on exhibit through February 11. Photo by Marilou Newell

Marion Natural History Museum170 viewsOn June 8, the Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group enjoyed a wonderful trip to Ram Island in Marion. The students watched various crabs in the salt marsh, visited several of the occupied Osprey nests and walked the shoreline looking for shells. We also had the opportunity to visit Clara and Darcy, the Moore’s pet donkeys. The museum would like to thank Dr. Michael Moore and his wife Hannah Moore for allowing us to explore the island’s many natural areas. Please visit our website: www.marionmus
