Marion Village 5K153 viewsThe number of participants in this year’s Marion Village 5K might have been down slightly according to race organizers, but the sentiment of fun and competition certainly was not on Saturday, June 25. Taking first place for men was Andrew Sukeforth of Middleboro with a time of 15:43, and Meg Hughes of Rochester won first place in the women’s division with a time of 19:50. The annual fundraiser began at the Handy Tavern, the headquarters of the Sippican Woman's Club, which hosted the event. The tavern was built in 1812 and has been owned by the club for many decades. Club historian Jeanine Bruen shared that the club is celebrating its 100th year and for nearly that long has been taking care of this structure in the heart of Marion village. Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 152 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School.
