Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 252 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day252 viewsLittle kids and big, big machines on a warm spring Marion morning made for tons of fun at the Marion Recreation’s Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day on May 10. A row of different Town-owned vehicles including a police cruiser, ambulance, earth diggers, a fire engine, and fire trucks lined the Town House field. There were plenty of Department of Public Works, police, and fire personnel on hand to demonstrate how the vehicles work, to turn on lights and alarms, and answer questions. Photo by Jean Perry

Rockets252 viewsThis past Wednesday and Thursday the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool groups constructed their own rockets. During lift off some went incredible distances, one ending up on a roof and at least one in a tree. The kids and the parents all had a great time. The Museum wishes to thank Mike and Alex Cronin of "Design Principles" for volunteering to help us construct and lift off the rockets, and all the many parents who stuck around to help with the construction and clean up afterward.

Annual Marion SpringFest252 viewsMay 9 was the day of the Annual Marion SpringFest sponsored by the Sippican Lands Trust and the Tree and Parks Committee! There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Marion Village 5K252 viewsThe Marion Village 5K is in its 19th year, and over 250 participants turned out to run the 3.1-mile course along the waterfront and through the quaint Marion village.
